(Capitol/Hi
Records 1995)
Further embracing the evolution of Lindy Hop from traditional swing music to
more modern music for Lindy Hop, the music on Verve Remix2 manifests the musical
side of this evolution from traditional jazz to more modern grooves. Verve
producers Dahlia Ambach Caplin and Jason Olaine hired several of the top House
music and electronica DJs to remix songs from Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn,
DIzzy Gillespie, and other Jazz greats. The result is more
"house" (boom, boom, boom) music than jazz, but the melodies and
rhythms are similar enough to manifest the evolutionary link between these two
forms of popular music from different eras. Moreover, because most all of
the songs are done to 4/4 time, Lindy Hop patterns still fit this music rather
well.
